Limestone Coast Wine Show Gears Up For Its 10th Show

This year, 2010, marks the tenth anniversary of the Limestone Coast Wine Show casting a spotlight on local wine producers and rewarding excellence and innovation in wine production.  During this time the show has gained the recognition of the national wine show circuit with gold medal winners being able to enter the National Wine Show in Canberra.

Once again the wine show has been successful in securing an impressively experienced judging panel, welcoming the return of acclaimed wine journalist, Huon Hooke, as Chairman of Judges. This year’s international judge will be Hong Kong's Rebecca Leung.  Rebecca is a widely recognised author, wine writer and popular 'blogger' and will be a welcome addition to this year’s panel.

The 2010 show will be taking a sea change with the coastal regions of Mount Benson and Robe to host the event for the very first time. This will see a move from the previous two years where judging has been held in the Coonawarra and the presentation dinner in the Naracoorte hall and is sure to make for an exciting experience for our new and returning judges alike, giving them the chance to experience the emerging region and its stunning local produce and hospitality.

This move is a demonstration of the commitment of the committee to bring the wine community's attention to all areas of the Limestone Coast Region whilst highlighting the diversity that exists within the region viticulturally.

Another exciting announcement for the coming show is that this year there will be a new 'Small Batch Class'.  This award has been included to bring to light those producers who are experimenting with new varieties, techniques or who do not meet the volume criteria for the other open classes of the show.  This should undoubtedly unearth some truly interesting wines from the region.

With a record number of entries again last year the Committee is hopeful that this Show will be the biggest and best yet, giving the Limestone Coast wine region a platform to take its top wines and producers to the world.
